Ahoy! Chris here!
My neighbors Jeff, Eric and I were taking a boat ride a couple of days ago and Eric was complaining that the weather has not been warm enough to go swimming. Jeff replied that there are plenty of other things to do on a boat besides swim. Jeff explained that he and his friends just had a Euchre tournament on a boat (for those of you not from the Great Lakes, it is a card game).
A lot of people, even current boaters don’t realize that there is so much more to do on a boat than just swim. My wife and I have theme parties on our boat all the time.
Here are some great suggestions for theme parties:
- Iron Chef Party
- Magic Cruise
- Texas Holdem Party
- Karaoke Night
- Pirate Party
A couple of times a year, we host a Movie Night. From time to time, there is more than one boat. We all jump from boat to boat enjoying the food and watching movies. There can sometimes be up to 30 of us, depending on how many boats we have rafted-off. Here's my daughter enjoying a movie night on a boat.

But my wife’s favorite theme is our famed “White Party”. Everyone must dress in all white. I stick to my conventional white linen pants and shirt, but it’s easy to get creative. The women get colorful jewelry to accent their all white outfits. This is something that all of our friends look forward to.
Let me know if you have other suggestions for parties on a boat, what has worked and what has not worked, as my wife and I are consistently looking for something unusual to surprise our guests with.
