In times like these, you’re in the driver’s seat (or better yet, at the helm). Dealers want to sell boats, and they’ll be happy to work with you and provide you with special offers and discounts. Here are just some of my tips on what to do before you buy that boat of your dreams:
Visit a Boat Show - Take a look at all available options and board as many boats as you can. Discuss your wants and needs with dealers and experts at the boat show; they will answer any questions you may have. For a list of boat and sport...

There's never a dull moment on our boat. We swim, we eat and we play games.
Sometimes my daughter and I will bring a puzzle to do on the cockpit table or we’ll play cards as she’s learning to count, but her favorite game is learning how to tie up the boat or wash down the decks. I know what you’re thinking, those are not games, but with my daughter, she is learning how to take care of the boat while having fun doing it.
We approach every task on the boat as a game or a special event. This...

Hey There! Chris here!
My kids' favorite thing to do on a boat is go on the back swim platform and open the back storage compartment that doubles as their toy box on the water. The trunk is full of noodles, bubbles, squirt guns, rafts and my daughter’s favorite, the water balloon launcher.
My kids, however, are not the only ones who love to dig through the trunk. It is not unheard of to see two of my buddies on the bow of the boat having a squirt gun fight.
Here are some pictures of kids enjoying a great summer day.

Ahoy! Chris here!
My neighbors Jeff, Eric and I were taking a boat ride a couple of days ago and Eric was complaining that the weather has not been warm enough to go swimming. Jeff replied that there are plenty of other things to do on a boat besides swim. Jeff explained that he and his friends just had a Euchre tournament on a boat (for those of you not from the Great Lakes, it is a card game).
A lot of people, even current boaters don’t realize that there is so much more to do on a boat than just...

Happy Thursday! Capt. Chris here!
Thanks to everyone for responding to my blog on boat names – we have over 40 really cool and funny entries. If you haven’t seen them yet, check them out on this page.
My wife and I often invite people on our boat and the first question people ask is “What can I bring or how can I help? “ Here are some helpful tips for guests and hosts.
Bring some food: We always tell our guests to bring chips and dip, fresh fruit or their favorite picnic dish, just no glass. Finger food works...

Ahoy! Capt Chris here!
Admit it—you’ve stood on shore and watched people in boats enjoying themselves out on the water and thought “I wish I was out there.” Well, it’s time to stop wishing and start boating, because NOW is a great time to buy a boat or upgrade your boat! Why? Here are just a few of my reasons why you should get off the dock and into a boat now.
Boating is affordable. There are boats for every lifestyle, activity and budget. You can finance a boat, just like a car— in fact, you can...
